RE: |
Award Bid No. 1516 and authorize the City Manager to execute the construction contract for project UT1413, Homestead Drive Waterline Replacement. |
Background
The Homestead Drive waterline replacement project was evaluated as part of a preliminary design report, which established viable alternatives for alignment, project prioritization, construction cost estimates, and sequencing that will align with planned street rehabilitation work and budgeted funding. The assessment study identified the Homestead Drive waterline as a priority for replacement due to the size, age, and condition of the 6, 1963 cast iron main.
Project Description
The Homestead Drive Waterline Replacement Project, as shown on the attached map, includes the replacement of approximately 1500 linear feet of 6 cast iron waterline with 8 plastic waterline. The project also includes valves, fittings, fire hydrants and other miscellaneous appurtenances for the waterline located along Homestead Drive around the loop to Lawrence Avenue. The project will be completed within 150 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed, per the contract documents.
Traffic Impacts
Local traffic on Homestead will be maintained at all times. The waterline replacement will require traffic control on Homestead with the road closed to thru traffic. There will be temporary traffic restrictions at various locations along the length of the project to accommodate construction equipment and ensure a safe working environment for the contractor and the public.
Traffic control and lane restrictions will be required on Lawrence Avenue in order to connect the new line to the existing main. However, Lawrence Avenue will remain open to thru traffic throughout the project.
