Lawrence, Kansas
WHEREAS: Sertoma International was founded in 1912 in Kansas City, Missouri and the Lawrence Sertoma Service Club was chartered on September 25, 1929 and has been providing service over the past eighty years in this community; and
WHEREAS: The Lawrence Sertoma Club will be hosting its Seventeenth Annual Bar-B-Q Cook-off at Rock Chalk Park on Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9, 2015; and
WHEREAS: The public is invited to attend this event and enjoy the sights, sounds, and aroma from the numerous teams competing in the cook-off with the grand champion advancing on to compete in the American Royal Cook-off; and
WHEREAS: The funds raised from this event will be used to continue Sertoma’s service projects for the community including sponsorship of the annual Schiefelbusch Communication Camp.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Lawrence, Kansas, does hereby proclaim Saturday, May 9, 2015 as
and urges the citizens of this community to partake of great Bar-B-Q and support the Lawrence Sertoma Club in providing SERvice TO MAnkind.
