RE:

Public meeting held on April 15, 2015 to discuss Project No. PW1503, BBP, Kasold Drive to K-10 Corridor Traffic Improvements

On Wednesday, April 15, 2015, the City held a public meeting for residents along the Bob Billings Parkway Corridor.

Approximately 2900 notices were sent to properties between Harvard and Clinton Parkway along the Corridor from K-10 to Kasold.

Over 200 residents attended. Staff presented what we have received as the issues and concerns along the corridor including speed of vehicles, sight distances, pedestrian issues/ access, and increased traffic volumes when the interchange at K-10 and Bob Billings is opened later this year.

Additionally, staff has been working with the Bob Billings Safety Group, which includes members of several neighborhood associations, to identify issues and concerns. Options were presented and residents were given dots to place on maps next to the options that they preferred. We received a lot of positive comments and good ideas.

A web site has been set up: www.lawrenceks.org/BBP-improvements

The web site will house all the information presented and received. Residents can also provide additional comments through the site.

Next steps will include:

-          Compile and summarize the comments received

-          Assemble a couple options for the short term and long term improvements

-          Meet with the Safety Group and present the options

-          Continue to receive feedback

-          Present the options to the public

-          Present the options to the Commission for direction
