RE:

Traffic Safety Commission, Resident Parking Only at 1109 Ohio Street.

Background

At the March 9, 2015 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request to establish Resident Parking Only in front of 1109 Ohio Street. Ohio Street is classified as a “local” street in a residential area, paved approximately 30 feet wide with parking permitted along both sides of the street, and designated as a one-way street southbound.  The home at 1109 Ohio Street does not have a driveway and does not have alley access. The only other Resident Parking Only area is on Edgehill Road; it was installed temporarily in May 2013 and was made permanent by ordinance in September 2014.

Traffic Safety Commission Action

At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, one (1) member of the public addressed the Commission in support of the request. No one spoke in opposition to the request. It was noted that the residents at 1109 Ohio Street often have to park all the way down at the end of the block or in the next block and that their business requires that they load and unload materials into their car. The commissioners were concerned if this restriction would conflict with any future city-wide ordinance that may be established. The Commission recommended, on a unanimous vote of 8-0, to establish RESIDENT PARKING ONLY in front of 1109 Ohio Street.

Action Request

It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission and establish RESIDENT PARKING ONLY in front of 1109 Ohio Street.
