RE:	Request to purchase one (1) Tandem Dump truck with plow and spreader utilizing the State of Kansas bid #EVT0003007

Background

As part of the 2015 budget process and as part of the replacement cycle, the Streets Division identified the need for replacement of unit #329, a 2002 International Dump Truck.  Exercising the Kansas Department of Transportation cooperative purchase contract, the city could purchase a tandem axle dump truck with front plow, spreader, and wing plow for $158,156.00.  This unit is utilized for hauling material and serves a critical role in snow removal operations. 

Funding

Funding for this replacement was approved in the 2015 budget process.  This would incorporate the trade value of unit #329.  Truck Center Companies of Wichita has a current contract with the State of Kansas and has assessed the value of unit #329 at $17,500.00. 

Staff Recommendation

Streets Division and Central Maintenance staff recommends the purchase of one (1) dump truck with plow, wing plow, and spreader for the net value of $146,651.00.

Action

Authorize Streets Division to purchase one (1) dump truck with trade under the Kansas Procurement contract #EVT0003007 for a net cost of $146,651.00.
