RE:	Purchase of Tractor for Parks & Recreation

Description

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department requests Commission approval to replace a 1998 tractor. This unit is used weekly during the mowing season to pull a fifteen-foot brush hog mower in the maintenance of park properties and road right-of-ways. The current unit has become very expensive to keep operational and may not make it through the current mowing season.

Funding

The tractor would be purchased using pricing from a cooperative purchasing agreement with the State of Kansas (Contract 39910), which would result in a total purchase price of $59,993.76. This price includes the trade-in of the old tractor unit.

Funds are available for this purchase by using money budgeted in the contingency line of the Special Recreation budget.

Action Request

Authorize the purchase of a John Deere 6110M Cab Tractor for $59,993.76 from Deere & Company.  Heritage Tractor Inc. will be named as the delivering dealer.
