RE:

Yale Road One-Way Street

Background

At the February 2, 2015 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the Commission heard a request to establish Yale Road as a One-Way Street eastbound between Murrow Court and Crestline Drive. Yale Road is adjacent to West Middle School and is currently established as a one-way street eastbound between Schwarz Road and Murrow Court.

Traffic Safety Commission Action

At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, six (6) members of the public addressed the Commission, approximately half in support of the request and the other half opposed to the request. It was noted that extending the one-way street would increase the amount of traffic at the intersection of 9th Street & Crestline Drive and require motorists approaching from the south to make two left turns and travel on 9th Street in order to access the area. The Commission was concerned about increasing traffic at 9th Street & Crestline Drive and creating three (3) lines of stopped vehicles adjacent to West Middle School at dismissal time. The Commission recommended, on a unanimous vote of 7-0, to deny the request to establish Yale Road as a One-Way Street between Murrow Court and Crestline Drive.

Action Request

It is recommended that the City Commission concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission and deny the request to establish Yale Road as a One-Way Street between Murrow Court and Crestline Drive.
