Background
Utilities Department identified in its 2015 Operation and Maintenance Budget the need to replace two (2) water service installation and watermain repair crew and equipment trucks. They are capable of carrying up to four (4) crewmembers and necessary equipment for a variety of water service activities, including meter/service installations, watermain leak repairs, valve exercising and general service work. The trucks are outfitted to carry trash pumps and hoses, pipe saws and blades, lights, meter parts, repair clamps, and various tools. These trucks will replace older trucks #274 and #278, which have been determined to be at the end of their service life due to high accumulating repair and maintenance costs.

Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends the purchase of such trucks from Laird Noller Ford. The bid differential is in line with the City’s one percent (1%) local preference policy.
Funding
Funding for this purchase is from the 2015 Utilities Operations and Maintenance Budget.
Action
Award bid for two (2) water service installation and watermain repair crew and equipment trucks for the total amount of $158,572.00 from Laird Noller Ford.
