City Manager Report – City Hall Bike Repair Station

Recently the Public Works Department installed a bike repair station at City Hall. It is located near the bike parking on the east side of the building near the east entrance into City Hall. The repair station is intended to make repairs to a bike, while away from your home possible. It is equipped with an air pump and most tools you would need to make minor adjustment to a bike.

The idea of a bike repair station was reviewed by the Bicycle Advisor Committee and recommended for installation at city hall. They also suggested other locations that a bike repair station could be beneficial for cyclist; the Lawrence Public Library, Burroughs Creek Train and the Levee Trail were a few of the potential other locations.

The City Hall location was selected as the first test location based on its proximity to downtown, the Kansas River Levee Trail and for its visibility to potential users. Over the next several month staff will monitor its use and feedback.
