Re:         Request for Waiver of Fees

As you know, the Dwayne Peaslee Technical Training Center is a collaborative initiative of the Economic Development Corporation of Lawrence and Douglas County, the City of Lawrence, Douglas County, The Chamber, local industry, and private donors to fill the technical skills training gap that currently exists in our community.

To date, the City of Lawrence has stepped up in many ways to support the project. While the City has provided much-needed funding for the project, resources are limited. Therefore, the Peaslee Center respectfully requests that the City consider the following:

1. Reimbursement of the $1,805.75 building permit fee for renovations to accommodate the Lawrence Workforce Center as a new tenant in the Peaslee Center.

2. Waiver of the building permit fee for renovations to the Peaslee Center to develop classroom, office, and training laboratory spaces. This fee is estimated to be $5,860.75.

3. Waiver of the $1,000 Industrial Revenue Bond application fee.
