PW1505 – Reconstruction of Kasold Drive from 6th Street to Bob Billings Parkway; Scope and Fee for Concept Study |
Project Description
On November 18, 2014, public works staff was authorized to solicit qualifications and proposals for the reconstruction of Kasold Drive from Bob Billings Parkway to 6th Street including the intersection of Kasold Drive and Harvard Drive. CFS Engineers was recommended as the design engineer, and city staff was authorized to negotiate an agreement with them on February 3, 2014.
City staff is recommending splitting this project into two phases; a concept study and design plans. The concept study will include collecting traffic counts, survey, and geotechnical information while public input is received through both public meetings and the creation of a project website. Public input will be important in deciding what type of lane configuration, intersection control, and bicycle/pedestrian facilities along Kasold Drive are most desirable. The feasibility of adding bicycle/pedestrian facilities on Kasold Drive north of 6th Street to Peterson Road will also be included. The concept study will provide a recommendation to be reviewed by the City Commission before proceeding with design plans. A design agreement with scope and fee will then be negotiated with CFS Engineers.
Project Cost and Funding
The project has a design and construction budget of $5,350,000 to be funded with infrastructure sales tax funds. The cost of the concept study is $132,325.
