Equipment for ITS Project Phase I |
Background
The City is currently working on Phase 1 of the KDOT grant that was approved last year. Phase 1, includes equipment to add 12 intersections along 6th Street from K-10 to Wakarusa; on Wakarusa from 6th Street to Clinton Parkway; on Clinton Parkway from Wakarusa to Iowa; and adding the intersection of 23rd/K-10 & O'Connell. Equipment at the 12 intersections include installing new controllers, Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras and cabinet modifications to enhance traffic flow, traffic safety and monitor each intersection. Phase I of the project was estimated at $180,000 with 17% paid by the City and 83% state funds.
Project Description
As part of Phase I, the City needs to purchase 13 IE 3000 switches and power transformers. Twelve are needed for the project, with one unit to be a spare for emergencies.
Staff Recommendation
The I.T. Department recommends purchasing the equipment from Vital Support via the State of Kansas purchasing contract. The IE 3000 units are $1,197.00 each and the power transformers are $237.00 each for a total of $18,642.00

Authorize the purchase of 13 IE 3000 switches and power transformers for the ITS Project Phase I from Vital Support via the State of KS purchasing contract for $18,642.
