RE:	Project PW1416: 2014 Crosswalk Marking Project and Iowa Street Pavement Marking Project Approve Change Orders for Additional Crosswalks and 9th Street Pavement Marking

Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the November 11, 2014 meeting:

Project Description

This project included the annual crosswalk marking project to grind and glue intersection-grade pavement marking material in place for crosswalks and stop lines and restriping Iowa from the 2013 reconstruction project completed late in the year with paint striping.

The Kansas Department of Transportation’s 9th & Emery intersection safety improvement project included a mill/overlay and restriping on 9th Street from Avalon to Arkansas.  To continue a consistent 3-lane road section with bike lanes, pavement marking was removed and installed from Arkansas to Mississippi through a change order with the contractor.  The additional 9th Street pavement striping work used the bid prices from the original contract.

Project Funding

9th Street pavement marking will be funded from the Capital Improvement Program Reserve fund, $26,493.25.

Additional crosswalks will be funded from the traffic operations painting budget, $8,608.00.

Action

Approve Change Orders for PW1416 in the amount of $35,101.25.
