RE:	Lease of Ford Explorer – Staff Vehicles

Please place the following item on the consent agenda for the City Commission to consider at their November 11, 2014 meeting:

Background:

On October 28, 2014 the City Commission approved a request for the Fire Medical Department to lease seven (7) Ford Explorers from Shawnee Mission Ford from a Kansas Department of Transportation Procurement Contract.  While the State procurement contract was competitively bid, some local vendors did not participate in the bidding process.  Staff believes it would appropriate to rescind the earlier approval action and re-bid the lease of the vehicles.  Additional effort will be made to ensure that local vendors are advised of the bidding opportunity.

Recommendation Action:

Rescind the City Commission approved action of October 28, 2014 for the lease of seven (7) Ford Explorers from Shawnee Mission Ford, and authorize staff to proceed with a new bidding for the lease of seven (7) Ford Explorers.
