ORDINANCE NO. 9029

An Ordinance of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, exempting on a temporary basis the CARMA and CARMAHOP ridesharing programS from SEC. 69 (a) OF the standard traffic ordinance FOR KANSAS CITIES, 2014 EDITION, AS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE 9028.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

SECTION 1: Section 69 (a) “Pedestrians Soliciting Rides or Business” pertaining to the prohibition of standing upon or along a street or highway for the purpose of soliciting a ride, 2013 Edition of the Standard Traffic Ordinance for Kansas Cities as adopted by Ordinance 8902, shall not apply to the Carma and CarmaHop ridesharing programs between:

October 25, 2014 and May 25, 2015, while Carma and CarmaHop conduct research for their ridesharing programs.

SECTION 2: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force after its passage and publication as provided by law.
