Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) Members host Ride to Celebrate 9th Street Bicycle Lanes |
Background
The recently completed 9th Street lane reconfiguration reduced travel lanes and added bike lanes in each direction from west of Emery Rd. to Illinois St. and shared lane markings from Illinois St. to Mississippi St. to connect to the existing bike lanes to the east.
Before After
Celebration Ride Planned
On Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1 p.m., BAC members have invited the public to meet in South Park for a bike ride to celebrate the new bike lanes on 9th Street.
Lisa Hallberg, BAC Chairwoman says the ride is, “to acknowledge and celebrate the progress that the City of Lawrence has made to integrate cycling as a means of transportation and to advance cycling for healthy lifestyle and sport within our community.” Cyclists will meet in South Park by the fountain for a short (45 minute) slow paced family friendly ride.
