THE COLOR RUN
Dear Lawrence Property Owner or Resident:
RE: The Color Run
On Saturday October 18, 2014, we will host a 5K run, festival at Watson Park and course along portions of 7th St., New Jersey, 8th St, Delaware St, and 11th St.
Plan on street closures at1:00 pm and reopening at 6:00 pm, with the finish
festival at Watson Park. Please see the map below for additional information. If you need
access across any of the closed streets during the race, course marshals will
be stationed to guide you to the easiest route. Course marshals at the
closures will do their best to work traffic across closed roads when there are
breaks in the line of runners. We ask all drivers to proceed with caution, as
we anticipate 4,000 participants for the run.
This event will be considered on the September 16, 2014 City of Lawrence commission consent agenda for action. If you would like to attend the commission meeting it begins at 6:35 pm in the commission chambers located on the first floor of City Hall (6 E. 6th Street).
Due to your close proximity to the area, The Color Run would like to make you personally aware of the event itself, Amplified music at Watson Park will start around 7:30 AM. We urge any residents or businesses along this route to keep windows and doors shut, as there will be colored cornstarch powder being thrown at approximately each colored square indicated on the map below.
