August Sales Tax Distribution

The City of Lawrence has recently received its August sales tax distribution.  The distribution is the result of retail sales from mid-June to mid-July.  The distribution of $3,139,838.39 is $230,000 more than the prior year distribution for the same month.  It also includes $7,935.65 from the Free State Transportation Development District and $7,094.28 from the Oread District.    See Attached Report

 

Sunflower Foundation Grant Received To Extend Trail

The City of Lawrence received notification from the Sunflower Foundation that the Community Trails Grant submission for the Burcham Park River Trail has received funding. The $53,460 matching grant will connect Burcham Park with Constant Park with a .64-mile multi-use path along the Kansas River.  The trail will connect the recently completed Outside for a Better Inside Trail located in the future Sandra J. Shaw Community Health Park to provide access to Downtown Lawrence, the levee trial and LMH. The trail will be constructed partially of concrete and partially of asphalt millings to balance trail surface durability and cost.  Total cost of the trail is $106,920.

 

 

 

Soil Donation Received From K-Mart

The City of Lawrence received a donation of 24 pallets of potting mix from the K-Mart Distribution Center. The mix containing bark, sand and soil will be divided up and used by the Parks and Recreation Landscaping Division and Eagle Bend Golf Course for planting this spring’s flowers.
