RE:	Shotgun start at Lawrence Police Foundation Golf Tournament

The City has received a request from the Lawrence Police Foundation to fire a blank for a shotgun for a “shotgun” start at its golf tournament on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at The Orchards by Cobblestone, LLC Golf Course, 3000 Bob Billings Parkway.  If the Commission wishes to authorize this, staff recommends suspending enforcement of City Code Section 14-407, which prohibits the discharge of firearms within the City, for this event.

Action

Approve the suspension of enforcement of City Code Section 14-407 (prohibiting the discharge of firearms within the City) to allow for a “shotgun” start at the Lawrence Police Foundation golf tournament on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at The Orchards by Cobblestone, LLC Golf Course, 3000 Bob Billings Parkway.
