Purchase of snow plow wear item replacement parts

 

Please include the following item on the City Commission Consent Agenda for consideration at the September 2, 2014 meeting.

 

Background

Over the course of the winter season, certain snow plow parts such as, blades, edges, cutting edges, curb guards, etc., wear out and need to be replaced prior to the next winter season.  These parts are vital for continued snow removal operations. Funding is provided for parts replacement in the 2014 approved general fund budget. We would like to use the cooperatively bid contract established by the City of Olathe #3733-001 and awarded to American Equipment Co. to purchase the needed parts not to exceed $40,000. The additional funding, over the listed quote below, will be for transportation cost from Kansas City to Lawrence.
