RE:

Temporary Display of Art on the Exterior of the North Wall of 715 Massachusetts as part of an “Inside Out Art Project”

Please place this item on the consent agenda for August 26, 2014:

Approve the temporary display of art now through October 2014 on the exterior north wall of 715 Massachusetts as part of an Inside Out Art Project

Background:

Late the week of August 18, 2014, staff received a request from Matt Cullen, with 715 LLC, requesting the City allow the temporary display of art on the exterior north wall of the 715 Massachusetts building as part of the Inside Out Art Project.  Attached is an artists’ statement and the photographs that will be displayed.

In the Spring of 2014, the City Commission approved the Lawrence Cultural Arts Commission grants, which included a grant to support a similar project proposed by the Lawrence Percolator.  That project will involve the display of photographs of various artists around the community and will move forward later next spring.  It is also an “Inside Out Art Project”.

Staff recommends approval of this display as it is temporary in nature.

Requested Action:

Approve the temporary display of art now through October 2014 on the exterior north wall of 715 Massachusetts as part of an Inside Out Art Project.
