Background
The City of Lawrence has received a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to improve the runway lights and signage at the airport. Bids for the project were opened June 10 and Capital Electric submitted the successful bid of $219,745.
Project Description
The project is to begin in September. Attached is an agreement with Airport Development Group (ADG) to provide inspection services for this project in an amount of $27,000.
Upon completion of the project, the FAA will fly over the airport and check the new lighting. The FAA will charge $7,050 for this flight.
Funding
Both these expenses are eligible for the grant at ninety percent (90%) Federal funding. The City’s cost is ten percent (10%) - $2,700 for inspection and $700 for the flight.
Action
Authorize City Manager to sign an agreement with ADG for construction engineering services in an amount of $27,000.
Approve additional costs for FAA flight inspection of the runway lighting in an amount of $7,050.
Respectfully Submitted,
