Special populations camps

Lawrence Parks & Recreation Department teamed up with the University of Kansas Athletics to provide Special Populations campers the unique opportunity to bowl and meet freshmen student athletes from several of the sports played at KU.  See attached photos.

The Special Populations campers also experienced Rick McNabb’s 4-Square Athletics “mini hoop camp” at East Lawrence Recreation Center, where local employees of Dillon’s Food Stores and volunteer athletes led the campers in exercises focusing on shooting, dribbling, and teamwork.  See attached photos.

Video tour of Sports Pavilion Lawrence

The latest edition of Lawrence In Focus features a video tour of Sports Pavilion Lawrence, the city’s newest recreation center, opening in September 2014.  The video is available online at the city’s You Tube Channel or at the city’s website, www.lawrenceks.org/in-focus.  The center continues to change each week as it gets closer to opening this fall.
