Tequa Creek Holding, LLC has requested an event permit for the closure of Delaware Street from 8th Street to 9th Street, and the parking lot south of the Poehler Lofts, 619 E 8th Street, from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday September 13, 2014, associated with the 2014 SeedCo Harvest Event and an ordinance for the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol (See Map).
The request to sell, possess and consume alcohol within the public right of way has been reviewed pursuant to City of Lawrence Code, Chapter IV, Article 1, Section 4-113 and the event was not found to be within 400 feet of a church or school.
The event organizers have obtained written permission from the adjacent property owners (see attached). The city has also sent public notice of the commission action on this item to all affected property owners, to include the tenants in the Poehler Lofts (See notice).
In addition, Police, Planning, City Clerk’s Office, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Fire/Medical, Lawrence Transit, Downtown Lawrence, Inc., and the Chamber all have reviewed this permit with no issues.
ACTION
Approve a street event permit for Tequa Creek Holding, LLC allowing the closure of Delaware Street, from 8th Street to 9th Street, and the parking lot south of the Poehler Lofts, 619 E. 8th Street from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014, associated with the 2014 SeedCo Harvest Event.
Adopt on first reading, Ordinance No. 9024, allowing the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol on Delaware Street, from 8th Street to 9th Street, and the parking lot south of the Poehler Lofts, 619 E. 8th Street, from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014, associated with the 2014 SeedCo Harvest Event.
