Re:	Purchase of Fire Medical Uniforms

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at a future City Commission meeting:

Background:

The Fire Medical department issues and replaces uniforms and related accessories for members.  Vendors are selected to supply the appropriate uniform item and orders are placed as needed.

Bid Details: 

The Fire Medical Department solicited bids (#B1417) for supplying the Department with uniforms and related accessories.  The Notice to Bidders set out the specifications for all items and an estimate of quantities in order to get comparable bid pricing.  The bid was divided into six separate sections to allow vendors to bid as many sections as they could.  All bid pricing was requested per item to allow adjustments in estimated quantities, actual purchase quantities will be based on actual cost and availability of funds. 

Bid Status: 

The Department received seven bids from suppliers.  Three bidders completed all sections of the bid request.  The remaining three bidders completed only portions of the request.  The submitted bids were reviewed, analyzed and references were checked to determine the lowest responsive bid meeting the Department’s specifications.

Action Request: 

Fire Medical Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to award an amount not to exceed annual budgeted amount (FY 2014 - $54,643) total for the six sections of the bid, renewable for an additional two years providing funds are available and both parties agree.
