Dear Lt. McCluer:

The Lawrence City Commission will convene in the City Commission Chambers, 1^st Floor, City Hall, 6 East 6^th Street, Lawrence, Kansas on July 22, 2014 at 6:35 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, for the purpose of conducting a public hearing regarding a request for a distance restriction waiver.  The Lawrence Arts Center is requesting a waiver of the distance restriction in the City Code that prohibits the sale or serving of alcoholic liquor within 400 feet from a school (K through Grade 12) or church.  This event is applying for a temporary alcoholic beverage permit and is planning to sell alcohol and food on the top deck of the New Hampshire Parking Garage, located at 927 New Hampshire Street.  The Lawrence Arts Center Fall Fundraiser event is scheduled for Saturday September 13, 2014 from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Pursuant to City Code, all schools and churches within 400 feet of the proposed location are required to receive written notice of the public hearing date at least 30 days prior to the public hearing.  Your church is the only church or school within 400 feet of the event.
