Background

The 23rd Street waterline project will be completed in three phases as shown on the attached map. Phase I (Louisiana to Alabama) was awarded to Banks Construction on March 4, 2014 and given notice to proceed on April 14, 2014.  The contract date for final completion is September 11, 2014; however, Banks Construction reached final completion on June 18th, 2014.  Due to the calendar conditions on permanent seeding, the seeding will take place in August, 2014.  Phase I of the 23rd Street Waterline Replacement Project included the installation of approximately 1450 lineal feet of 8” PVC waterline by directional drilling.

 

Project Status

Change order #1 includes costs associated with the final adjustment of bid items to reflect actual installed quantities in the amount of $18,320.  Due to heavier than normal traffic along 23rd Street associated with the South Lawrence Trafficway detours, the City requested additional traffic control in advance of the watermain construction area in the amount of $5,925.00.  Unknown service repairs and additional sod were also requested in the amounts of $5,000.00 and $1,350.00 respectively.

Original Contract – 23rd Street Waterline Phase 1

    $252,543.00

Change Order #1

      $30,595.00

Current Contract Total

    $283,138.00

 

Change order cost adjustments are 12.1% of the original contract amount.

 

 

 

 

Action

Authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order #1 to the construction contract with Banks Construction for project UT1309, 23rd Street Waterline Replacement Project – Phase 1, Alabama to Louisiana increasing the contract amount by $30,595.00.
