UT1407 Clinton Water Treatment Plant Raw Water Pump 4 Motor & VFD Replacement

On Friday June 13, 2014, staff from the Department of Utilities, Wolf Construction, and Logic Inc. completed the installation and startup of a new 350 hp motor and variable frequency drive (vfd) on the 10 million gallon per day Pump Number 4 at the Clinton Water Treatment Plant Raw Water Pump Station. The replacement of the motor and vfd addressed ongoing reliability issues with the existing equipment. The project was executed with Department staff researching and purchasing the motor and vfd from Logic Inc., and then advertising and bidding for the installation which was performed by Wolf Construction. This project delivery method was selected to expedite the equipment delivery, and return Pump 4 to service ahead of the high summer water demands. Project costs were $93,807.19 for the motor and vfd, and $45,830.00 for the installation.

Vermont Street Parking Garage

The city’s newest parking garage opened to the public in September of 2013. Since then the garage has not charged a parking fee to encourage use. The garage has seen a steady increase in use over the past nine months. As the Library renovation project nears completion, the city will begin enforcing its parking fees and payment to park for the use of the parking garage on Monday July 7, 2014.

The garage has been set up for 10 hour permit/pay parking as well as several levels of free two hour parking. The top deck will be 10 hour free parking.

The garage has four levels and will be fee based on the following chart:

Lowest level (south side)

10 hour pay or permit

1st north, 1st south, 2nd north

2 hour free

2nd south, 3rd north, 3rd south

10 hour pay or permit

4th north, 4th south (top deck exposed)

10 hour free

The garage has new pay on foot stations located at the Vermont and Kentucky Street entrances. The user will enter their parking stall number in the pay on foot station and the machines will accept credit cards or cash for payments. With the cash option you must have exact change. Annual 10 hour parking permits can be obtained from city hall.
