Comprehensive Plan Update Process

The Steering Committee is charged with gathering input on the ideas and concerns of the community, the prioritization of those items, issues, and needs; then finally drafting of the Issues Action Report to further guide the writing of the plan.  To this end, the staff and the Steering Committee are currently working to gather a wide range of public input on issues and concerns facing the community, as well as the ideas people have for the future growth and development of Lawrence and Douglas County.

The opportunities for the public to provide input includes Open House meetings throughout Lawrence and Douglas County, with the Open House survey also available online, the ETC Survey, presentations to the Steering Committee by stakeholders, a dedicated email address to send in thoughts, comments, and ideas, and the development of a Resource Guide to help shape and include key findings as their process continues. 

To help facilitate the widest participation possible, all of the Steering Committee meeting agendas and documents are available via their website, including video recordings of their meetings.
