RE:	June 17, 2014 Agenda Item – Authorize purchase of 5/8” and 1” water meters

Background

As part of the City’s Water Meter Replacement Program, the Utilities Department purchases all of the 5/8” and 1” water meters to replace old or faulty meters. This program assures the accurate measurement of water used by customers for reliable billing of water services. To maintain consistency of the meters used and compatibility with the radio read, the Department sole source purchases these meters from Badger Meter Inc. Generally, the meters require several weeks for delivery. The following quantity, meters and prices are as follows:

Recommendation

Utility staff recommends authorization of the purchase of the bulk order of meters from Badger Meter Inc. for replacement of meters through the Water Meter Replacement Program.

Funding

The project will be funded from the Department of Utilities Operations & Maintenance Budget. 

Action

Authorize the Utilities Department to sole source purchase the meters for the 2014 Water Meter Replacement Program from Badger Meter Inc.
