Event Permit – Library Grand Opening; Saturday July 26, 2014

 

The Lawrence Public Library has requested a street event permit to close a portion of the 700 block of Vermont Street, adjacent to the Library, and a request to sell, possess and consume alcohol within the public right of way in the same block on Saturday July 26, 2014, from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., for their Grand Opening event. Vermont Street would be closed from 7th Street to just north of the entrance into the parking garage immediately south of the Library from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (see map). The applicant has obtained written permission from the adjacent property owners agreeing to the closure (see attached).

 

The request to sell, possess and consume alcohol within the public right of way has been reviewed pursuant to City of Lawrence Code, Chapter IV, Article 1, Section 4-113 and the event was not found to be within 400 feet of a church or school.

 

In addition; Police, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Fire/Medical, Lawrence Transit, Downtown Lawrence, Inc., and the Chamber all have reviewed this permit with no issues.

 

ACTION      

Approve a street event permit for the Lawrence Public Library to close a portion of the 700 block of Vermont Street adjacent to the Lawrence Public Library on Saturday July 26, 2014, from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., for the Grand Opening.

 

Adopt on first reading, Ordinance No. 9005, allowing the sale, possession and consumption alcohol on the 700 block of Vermont Street adjacent to the Lawrence Public Library on Saturday July 26, 2014, from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., for their Grand Opening.
