Re: |
June 17, 2014 City Commission Meeting |
Background:
The Police department Watchguard In-Car video system collects and stores large amounts of video and audio evidence recorded while Patrol Officers perform their daily duties. Most of the system was purchased and installed in the spring of 2013 and has been operating well since. A replacement and augmentation plan was developed during the procurement process in order to continually service and maintain the program. This would allow for smaller manageable purchases over time.
Discussion:
The department needs to purchase three camera systems as part of the replacement process. This will also allow the application of the video systems in some specialty vehicles. The department also needs to install and deploy six additional wireless microphone docking stations in Patrol Units. Installing these devices will allow the systems already in place record two sets of audio streams. This is an important function when new Officers are deployed with Field Training Officers. The total cost of the three vehicle systems and additional wireless microphone sets is $23,973.00
Funding:
The necessary funds to cover the costs of purchase of the three vehicle systems and six additional wireless microphone components, outlined in the attached quote, has been identified in the Equipment Line Item #001-2-2110-6005. This Line Item was previously designated to address equipment needs within the department. The price is a GSA contracted price from the sole source for these products.
Action Requested:
Police Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to authorize the purchase of the three vehicle systems and six additional wireless microphone components from Watchguard Digital In-Car Video for $23,973.00
