Description
2014 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) request for Douglas County Kansas Sheriff’s Office – Lawrence Police Department to use grant funds to purchase interview room equipment.
The Justice Assistance Grant monetary allocation designated for Douglas County, Kansas and the City of Lawrence will be jointly used to purchase equipment that will improve the quality of interviews of witnesses, victims, and suspects conducted at the Investigations and Training Center and the Law Enforcement Center. The Lawrence Police Department seeks to partner with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department to use the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program to fund equipment needed to upgrade interview rooms.
Details
Grant funds will be used to purchase cameras, microphones, and equipment/software needed to record them. Additionally, computer infrastructure will be purchased to securely manage and store the recordings.
Funding
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant is $43,571.00 with no matching requirement.
Action Request
Police Department staff requests the City Manager to execute this agreement if the grant application is successful.
