RE:	Parks & Recreation Concrete Work

Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the June 17, 2014 meeting:

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department requests Commission approval to change concrete contractors based on bid #B1204.

Project Description

In 2012 Parks & Recreation received the bid for miscellaneous small concrete projects. These bids were renewable for a total of five (5) years if the same prices were maintained. Recently the contractor that has been performing this work, Elite Construction, notified the City that it was no longer able to perform the work at the pace desired by the City. In going back to the original bids received, Hicks Concrete was the next most responsive bidder and has agreed to do the needed work at the price that was bid. With approval, we wish to replace Elite Construction with Hicks Concrete for the remainder of the contract period. 

Project Funding

These projects are less than $15,000 and are funded by a variety of City funds.

Action Request

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department requests Commission approval to change concrete contractors from Elite Construction to Hicks Concrete based on bid #B1204
