RE:	2014 Busker Fest Right-of-Way Permit

We have received an application for a Street Event Permit for the Lawrence Busker Fest in downtown Lawrence from 08/22/14-08/24/14. The application includes statements of support from adjacent businesses. The event will be held on 7^th and 8^th Streets downtown, same as last year’s event. The request is for the following use of the streets and sidewalks:

Saturday, August 23	11:00 a.m. – midnight	900 Massachusetts, sidewalk and parking in front of US Bank 100 block of E 7^th Street 100 block of E 8^th Street
Sunday, August 24	11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.	900 Massachusetts, sidewalk and parking in front of US Bank 100 block of E 7^th Street 100 block of E 8^th Street

The applicant has also requested authorization for the possession and consumption of alcohol in the 100 blocks of E 7^th and E 8^th Streets during the event. Adoption of Ordinance No. 8992 would allow this.

ACTION

Approve a Street Event Permit for the 2014 Lawrence Busker Fest for the use of the sidewalk and 10 parking stalls in front of 900 Massachusetts Street, and the closure of the 100 block of E 7^th Street and the 100 block of E 8^th Street on August 22-24, 2014;

Adopt on first reading Ordinance No. 8992, allowing the possession and consumption of alcohol on the public right-of-way on the 100 block of E 7^th Street and the 100 block of E 8^th Street during the event.
