RE:	Bid Date for Scissor Lift for Center at Rock Chalk Park

Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the May 20, 2014 meeting:

Set a bid opening date of June 3, 2014, for the purchase of a scissor lift for the recreation facility at Rock Chalk Park.

Project Description

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department requests bidding of a new scissor lift that will be used in the recreation facility at Rock Chalk Park. This lift will be used in the facility to get maintenance staff up to the ceiling inside the facility to maintain lights and scoreboards, hang signage, and to maintain motors and cables used to lift basketball and volleyball goals. It will also be used on the outside of the facility to access the roof to maintain HVAC units.

Project Funding

It is estimated that the total cost for this equipment would be $20,000 and will be funded using capital money budgeted in the Special Recreation Fund budget.

Action Request

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to set a bid date of June 3, 2014, for the purchase of a scissor lift for the recreation facility at Rock Chalk Park.
