Background

On April 29, 2014 the City of Lawrence opened proposals for the following:

City Bid No. 1422

Project PW1401 – KLINK, 6th Street (U.S. 40 HWY) From K-10 HWY To Folks Road; 23rd Street (K-10 HWY) From Iowa Street To Ousdahl Road.

Project Description

The 2014 KLINK project includes a 2” mill and overlay for a small portion of 23^rd Street, between Iowa Street and Ousdahl Road. This section will connect to improvements to the 23^rd Street and Iowa Street intersection being reconstructed this summer. Also included with this project is microsurfacing of pavement on 6^th Street from K-10 interchange to Folks Road. New pavement markings will be placed on top of the microsurfaced pavement (see project location map).

Project Funding

The project bid at $667,714.12. The project is being funded with $200,000 from KDOT; $325,000 from City General Obligation Bonds,  and the remaining $142,714.12 coming from Street Maintenance funds.

Project Schedule

Award Contract: May 13, 2014

Anticipated Start Date: June, 2014

Project Completion Date: August 1, 2014

Action Request

Contingent on KDOT approval of bid, award bid from Vance Brothers, Inc., for Project PW1401, KLINK, 6^th Street (U.S. 40 HWY) From K-10 HWY To Folks Road; 23^rd Street (K-10 HWY) From Iowa Street to Ousdahl Road, in the amount of $667,714.12, provided the contractor can meet the terms established in the contract documents.
