Sales Tax Audit Committee

November 7, 2013 minutes

The meeting was called to order.

 

Robert Nugent, Transit Administrator, provide the group with a tour of the MV Transportation facility.  He provided an overview of the flex route service and discussed the idea of a possible site for a transit hub at 21st and Stewart Avenue.   

 

The committee reviewed the minutes from the meeting on June 7, 2013.  A motion was made to approve the minutes by Bateman.  It was seconded by Boyle.  The motion passed 3-0.  

 

Toomay walked the committee through revenues and expenditures as of September 30, 2013.

o   $2,610,281 of the 0.30% sales tax was spend on the following projects:

Residential Street Maintenance

$970,180

Maple Street Pump Station

$440,110

Bob Billings Parkway, Iowa to Kasold

$1,178,830

Wakarusa, Research to Oread West

$21,161

TOTAL

$2,610,281

o   A total of $6,084,036 has been spent (including encumbrances) on transit from all funds in 2013.  The expenditures were paid from federal, state, and local funds as follows:

 

Toomay will email maps showing the 2013 Comprehensive Street Maintenance Program and the 2013 Concrete Rehabilitation Program to show the locations of the projects included on the Infrastructure Sales Tax Spending Plan.  Toomay will also provide additional information on the revenues budgeted on the infrastructure sales tax spending plan for 2013.  Will we meet budget?  How about for 2014?

 

Toomay will provide additional information on payments to the following vendors:  David Haigh, Byron Wiley, Eric Farnsworth, and Sunflower Paving. 

 

The committee scheduled the next meeting for April 10 at 4:00 at City Hall. 

 

A motion to adjourn was made by King and seconded by Bateman.  The motion passed 3-0.
