RE:	Delay implementation of charging for 10 hour parking on the top level of the New Hampshire Garage.

Please include the following item on the City Commission Consent Agenda for consideration at the April 22, 2014 meeting.

History

Since the completion of construction of the New Hampshire parking garage, parking on the top level has been free. In recent years this garage has seen an increase in use and is currently utilizing all levels routinely. On January 28, 2014, the Commission approved charging for parking on the top level of this garage beginning on June 1, 2014 as ten hour parking.

Given the recent approval to extend the closure/partial closure of New Hampshire Street, due to the construction of the hotel on the south east corner of the intersection of 9^th and New Hampshire Streets, Commissioners asked if it would be possible to delay the start of charging for parking on the top deck of the garage.

Staff is planning on a 30 day advance notice to garage users of this change from 10 hour free to 10 hour pay. Pay structure will be set at $1.00 per 10 hour period. 10 hour permit hang tags will also be acceptable.

Action Request

Authorize staff to delay implementation of charging for parking on the top deck of the New Hampshire garage until September 5, 2014.
