City Commission Agenda Item - Hilltop Drive, No Parking |
Background
On March 3, 2014, the Traffic Safety Commission (TSC) heard a request to establish NO PARKING along one side of Hilltop Drive between Harvard Road and Oxford Drive. Hilltop Drive is classified as a “local” street in a residential area and is paved approximately 25 feet wide. Parking is currently permitted along both sides of Hilltop Drive. The TSC Agenda was sent to all adjacent property addresses during the week prior to the meeting.
Traffic Safety Commission Action
At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, two (2) members of the public addressed the Commission in support of the request; in addition, two (2) emails were received prior to the meeting, one (1) in support of the request and one (1) opposed to the request. It was noted that it is difficult to get in and out of driveways with vehicles parked along both sides of the street. A member of the Commission suggested restricting the parking from 7am-5pm Mon-Fri similar to other streets in the area; the person that made the request thought that would help. A motion to recommend establishing NO PARKING 7AM-5PM MON-FRI along the west side of Hilltop Drive between Harvard Road and Oxford Drive carried, 8-0.
