RE:	KU Relay Event Permit – No Parking

Please place this item on the April 8, 2014 City Commission meeting agenda.

Frank Masterson has applied for a temporary use of public right-of-way permit for The KU Relays from Wednesday, April 16, 2014 to Saturday, April 19, 2014. They are anticipating the need for additional parking off of the Rock Chalk Park site on public streets. City staff wanted to insure that parking on both sides of the adjacent streets was not allowed, thus creating possible access issues. The permit is for no parking only signs on various streets in and around the Rock Chalk Park area (see attached map).

The Police, Fire / Medical, Public Works and Transit departments have reviewed this permit and have no issues.  In addition, the developer of the Oregon Trail area is okay with the public streets being used for parking during this event.

ACTION:       Approve a temporary use of public right-of-way, event permit for use of no parking signs as identified on the attached map for various city streets on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 to Saturday, April 19, 2014 for the KU Relays.
