Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

 

WHEREAS:   The Lawrence community supports the pursuit of academic excellence; and

 

WHEREAS:   Lawrence strives to be community known for excellent schools and teachers; and

 

WHEREAS:   Local educators use unique approaches for teaching to positively affect classroom learning and encourage individual students’ interests; and

 

WHEREAS:   A third-grade teacher at New York Elementary, John Bode, has worked in the Lawrence School District for 19 years as an educator and speech-language pathologist ; and

 

WHEREAS:   John was recently named a “Kansas Master Teacher” for 2014 by the Teacher’s College at Emporia State University.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Amyx, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, April 9, 2014 as

 

“john bode day”

 

to honor him for his outstanding service to the students of New York Elementary and the USD #497 School District and call upon all citizens of the City of Lawrence and Douglas County to celebrate and honor John for his work and accomplishments in the field of teaching and education and for his support of the Lawrence community.
