RE:	Front and automatic side load refuse trucks

Please place the following item on the consent agenda for the City Commission to consider at its March 25, 2014 meeting:

Background

Solid Waste Division of Public Works requested bids for one (1) Front Load Refuse truck and three (3) Automated Side Load trucks last October to be used in the curbside recycling program. These trucks are identical to trucks used by the Solid Waste Division for refuse. As part of the divisions’ routine replacement schedule, one more of each truck is needed for current operations.

The winning dealers from that bid were contacted and asked if they would still honor that pricing for two more trucks (one of each) and quote the division trade-ins as well. Both dealers and their manufacturers agreed to hold their pricing (see attached).

Funding

The trucks are approved in the 2014 operating budget account 502-3-3515-6005.

Action Request

Authorize the Public Works Solid Waste Division to purchase the low bid trucks from Elliott Equipment and Downing Sales.
