RE:	1-1/2 Ton Dump Truck Chassis

Please place the following item on the consent agenda for the City Commission to consider at their March 04, 2014 meeting:

Background:

The purchase of a new 1-½ ton cab and chassis from Olathe Ford was approved on the February 11, 2014 consent agenda.  The vendor made a mistake on the quote which would increase the price of the truck. Rather than increasing our expense for this unit we recommend the following.

Recommendations

Public Works would like to change the vendor for this purchase to Summit Truck Group KC (formerly Diamond Trucks). The purchase will still be from the MACPP contract. There are no medium and heavy duty truck dealerships in Lawrence. Purchase price is $54,000.

Funding

Funding for this purchase was approved in the 2014 operating budget line 214-3-3800-6005

Action Request

Authorize the Public Works Department to purchase the chassis from Summit Truck Group KC in the amount of $54,000.00.
