No. PW1402 – 2014 Overlay, Patch, and Microsurfacing Program – City Bid No. B1411,
set bid date of March 11, 2014 |
Please include the following item on the
City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the February 25, 2014
meeting:
Project
Description:
The patch and microsurfacing portion of the project
includes a number of City residential and collector streets generally bordered
by W 6th St to Riverridge Rd and N Iowa St to Tennessee St with the
inclusion of two City parking lots downtown.
Streets to receive microsurfacing are determined to be in generally good
condition. Those that are deteriorated
beyond the recommended condition for microsurfacing are included in this project
as part of the milling and overlay program.
Project
History:
The City’s annual pavement maintenance program
was reviewed and approved by the City Commission on January 21, 2014. Other contracted maintenance program projects
such as the 2014 Crack Seal Program (to be performed by City internal crews), the
2014 Overlay and Concrete Rehabilitation Program, and the KLINK Microsurfacing
and Overlay project are also planned for this construction season as presented
at the January 21, 2014 City Commission Meeting.
Project
Details:
The project includes various surface and
full depth patching of deteriorated areas on City streets followed by the
microsurfacing of the entire pavement surface OR milling, patching, and overlay
as designated (see attached
location map). All existing pavement markings including bike lanes will be
reestablished. Additional bicycle
pavement markings (sharrows) will be included on many streets throughout the
project work areas as coordinated by the Public Works Department based on
recommendations from Bicycle Advisory Committee.
Project
Funding:
The pavement maintenance program is typically
funded from several sources. Funding for
the program was approved in August, 2013 and adopted in the 2014 City
Budget. This project was included in the
2014 Pavement Maintenance Program for microsurfacing & overlay to be paid
from the general fund, bonded debt, storm water, sales tax, and transit.
