Please place the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the February 25, 2014 meeting:

Background information:

The New Hampshire parking garage currently has 160 existing 175W metal halide lights consuming 210W each.  The bulbs are $11 each and are replaced on average once every year.  Energy usage and cost for the building in 2013 was 294,336kWh at $29,434, plus over $1,000 in bulbs.

The City requested proposals for new LED lighting at the New Hampshire parking garage.  Building Maintenance staff received and evaluated 12 proposals, evaluating price, life span, lighting photometrics, and installation. (See attached rating) The proposed Lumark Quadcast fixtures are 56W input and have very similar light output with a lifetime of over 100,000 hours. The single unit price per fixture is $229.27, plus hardware to install.  The energy and cost savings for the proposed lights is 215,000 kWh at $21,500, plus no replacement bulbs and ballasts.  The payback is 21 months at current $0.10/kWh.

Funding:

Resolution No. 6937, approved by the City Commission on August 16, 2011, included $200,000 for repairs to the Riverfront Parking Garage and $250,000 for the New Hampshire parking garage. Presently, $200,220 is encumbered for the Riverfront parking garage and $87,371 for the New Hampshire Parking garage.

Action Request:

Approve the purchase of new energy efficient LED lighting fixtures from Kriz-Davis for the New Hampshire parking garage in the amount of $36,683.20.
