RE:

2013 Weatherization Program Completion

The 2013 Weatherization Program is now complete.  Twenty-seven families applied during the month of August.  Three (3) of the applicants’ homes already met the weatherization guidelines and did not participate in the program.

Twenty-four households received benefits this year.

13 homes had entry doors weather-stripped.

22 homes had their attic insulation increased to an R-38.

11 homes had new storm windows installed.

The total cost of this year’s program was $27,495.28.

Each homeowner received a letter letting them know how much of this benefit was used on their home. A customer survey was sent with the letter and the response results were tallied and are attached.

Two local companies were the low bidders for the work this year.  They were Airtight, Inc. (attic insulation and weather-stripping) and Ziegler Glass (storm windows).

If you have any suggestions on how we can deliver better services, please let us know here:

  1. Tony was wonderful to work with.  The contractor who did the attic insulation said I had no insulation in the front part of my house.  Maybe this summer my electric bill won’t be $250.00 for two of the summer months.  Thank you for the work that was done.  I pray that it helps.  B. Payne
  2. Perhaps the application period could be earlier in the year so the installations could be earlier, before the weather gets really cold.
  3. Everything was done great.  Thank you so much for providing this service.
  4. My house was scheduled for Monday of Tuesday installation, but they did not arrive. Then it snowed and there was a federal holiday.  I requested prior notification so I could clean the two exterior windows before they installed the panels.  This did not happen.  I don’t really know when they were installed as no further communication took place.  Evidently, they came when I was not at home.
  5. Communication with city staff was excellent.  Communication with contractors was a little less satisfactory.  All in all we are quite pleased and appreciative.  Thank you so much!!
  6. There was an error made in my phone number so contractors were unable to reach me prior to coming to my house.
  7. Thank You!  All services provided were wonderful and as a young homeowner I’m most appreciative of everyone’s time and assistance.
  8. I found the services timely, accurate and informational!  I believe this is a very valuable service for homeowners and for the City of Lawrence in keeping Lawrence a modern & beautiful city to live in.  Thank you.  J. Johnson.
