February 11, 2014 Agenda Item Award for an Autoanalyzer Instrument for Nitrogen and Phosphorous water testing |
Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the February 11, 2014 meeting:
Award Bid No. B1402 for an Autoanalyzer Instrument System to Seal Analytical Inc. in the amount of $49,415.00.
Project History/Status
The Public Works and Utilities Departments requested bids for an autoanalyzer instrument system. This instrument is used to evaluate the levels of contamination of ammonia nitrogen, nitrate, nitrite, and phosphorous in water from the Farmland site and for the new nutrient removal Wakarusa WWTP. KDHE approved the purchase of this instrument using the Farmland remediation fund.
The current cost of contracting Farmland samples for analytical work is about $40,000 per year. The future nutrient removal Wakarusa plant will also require daily testing of samples for nitrogen and phosphorous. This will result in an additional $10,400 per year in testing costs. With the acquisition of the new equipment, the in-house staff can conduct this analytical work resulting in future savings.
On 1/28/2013 two bids were received along with a response declining to submit a bid. The bid summary is as follows:
The autoanalyzer instrument submitted by Microgenics Corporation Thermo Scientifc did not meet multiple specifications on the bid.
Project Funding: The equipment will be funded from the Farmland remediation account as approved by KDHE, account # 604-3-3400-6005.
