RE:

Project PW1303 – 9th Street & Kentucky Street Intersection Improvements Traffic Signal Improvements, Sidewalk Ramp Installations

Project Design

The 9th & Kentucky project includes the installation of new traffic signals and ADA compliant sidewalk ramps at the intersection. This project upgrades the existing traffic signals to match the new 9th & Tennessee improvements made to the corridor this past summer with the 9th & Tennessee project. Public Works staff designed this project in-house and will provide construction inspection.

Project Funding

The project was let by KDOT on January 15, 2014. The project is being funded with Federal-aid funds that cover ninety percent (90%) of the participating construction and construction engineering costs (inspection) with a project cap of $200,000. The remaining ten percent (10%) and all non-participating costs associated with the project are funded by the city from the General Fund. The city budgeted $20,000 for this ten percent (10%) contribution. The project cost does not include engineering design or construction engineering services.  The project bid and construction engineering costs totaled $160,471.54.  Non-participating project costs totaled $292.26. The City’s contribution will be $16,339.41.
