RE:	Agenda Item – Authorize the City Manager to approve purchase orders to Elite Construction Services for concrete work due to water main repair and replacement

Please include the following item on the City Commission Agenda for consideration at the January 14, 2014 meeting:

Authorize the City Manager to approve purchase orders from the O&M and capital budgets to Elite Construction Services Inc. in the amount of $50,000 each with the option to increase each by $50,000 for concrete work, repair and replacement due to water main leaks and replacement.

Project Description

The repair and replacement of water lines includes concrete work to repair curbs, driveways, sidewalks, and streets that were removed or damaged. The current vendor is Elite Construction, which is Parks & Recreation Bid #B1204, awarded by the City Commission on 02/4/12. Parks & Recreation plans to extend their contract with this vendor for 2014 also.

In place of individual purchase orders and project exemption certificates for each repair and project, the Utilities Department is requesting approval of two blanket purchase orders in the amount of $50,000 with the option to increase each by an additional $50,000. One would use O&M budget funds for repairs and maintenance of existing water main. The other purchase order would use capital funds for water main replacements.

Project Funding

Funding for this request will be from the Utilities 2014 O&M budget for water main repairs and Utilities capital funds for water main replacement projects.
